Multilayer Netting

Create versatile composites with our multilayer netting technology.

About Multilayer Netting

Our multilayer reinforcement netting helps manufacturers create exceptionally strong and lightweight composites. SWM manufactures a full line of netting configurations with multiple layers that help reinforce, support, bond, and laminate a wide range of substrates in diverse industrial and consumer applications.

Multilayer Netting is a netting configuration formed by multiple layers of oriented netting laying one on top of another creating a strong but lightweight mesh compatible with different substrates.  It is an ideal alternative to other reinforcement materials such as cross laminated fabrics, cross laid scrims, knitted scrims, etc. Conwed Multilayer Netting™ can be incorporated to substrates such as nonwoven, foam, paper, film, membrane, tissue, and other fabrics to form strong but lightweight composites. From house wraps, rain screens, roof and floor underlayments to furniture fabrics, carpet pads, wipes, cleaning and disposable products, our netting offers excellent tensile strength properties without significantly impacting the overall weight of the composite. Our ability to customize helps OEMs, manufacturers, and converters test different substrate and netting combinations until the required performance is achieved.

The difference between our multilayer reinforcement netting and other standard extruded or oriented designs is that Conwed Multilayer Netting overlaps two or more oriented netting layers that can be designed differently. This helps provide the desired strength and coverage area, and secure optimal bonding with other substrates. It offers countless design combinations, superior breathability performance, and can be bonded and laminated through different production processes.

Netting Design Configurations

Our multilayer netting capabilities allow us to customize each netting layer of the final Conwed configuration. Whether the layers use the same netting mesh size, weight, chemical composition and design or each individual layer is made differently, our engineering team will create the precise multilayer version to meet your specific product requirements. Our netting is made of overlapping netting layers to create multilayer netting configurations with different performance targets.

Conwed™ Flat Elastomeric Netting

Uniquely designed for hygiene and apparel applications, Flat Conwed™ is an elastomeric netting (formerly known as Rebound) with flat joints to create smooth and highly breathable nonwoven composites. It is used in composite form with different substrates acting as the stretch engine alternative to spandex, films, and stretchable nonwovens.

Conwed™ with Uni-Directional Elasticity

Conwed™ with uni-directional elasticity, a more elaborate product, is a web design with an elastomeric material in one direction and another polymer in the opposite direction. SWM can tailor the strand count, hole size, weight, thickness and hysteresis performance to meet customer requirements.
